While the woodland, chalk meadows, and river provide the perfect backdrop for those afternoon strolls and picnics.

Berkhamsted Castle

While in the town of Berkhamsted, we’d be remiss not to mention one of its most iconic attractions. One of England’s oldest motte-and-bailey castles, Berkhamsted Castle and its surrounding deer park were for many centuries held by the Duchy of Cornwall. Prior to that, the Castle crops up in many tales, from the victories of Edward the Black Prince to the saga of the Norman conquest. Today, you can visit the site and unfold its history through interactive experiences, before taking a stroll through its stunning deer park.
