Which is why we couldn’t be more thrilled that some of our favourite food and drink businesses are here to save us with their takeaway menus. From a coffee to go to accompany your daily stroll or a date night out from your living room, you’ll be supporting an independent business and getting a delicious treat at the same time. Talk about a win win! Here’s a few to look out for…
Brew with a view
Upgrade the daily tea break for a stroll around one of Hertfordshire’s open gardens, and make good use of their cafés that are open and ready for takeaways. Fresh air, a cuppa tea and a view of the stunning exterior of Knebworth House, or marvel at some works of art at Henry Moore sculpture park.
Cuppa Joe to go
To get us through the weekend (or those particularly long WFH days!) some our favourite independent coffee shops are open and ready to serve up a hot coffee and a sweet slice. Make sure to look up what’s open in your local area, but for Berkhamsted locals we recommend Fred and Ginger Coffee and St Albans residents can rely on trendy Nkora Café to see you through lockdown.
The Waffle House
Our Saturday morning brunch plans can continue! Thanks to the Waffle House St Albans offering a takeaway AND a drive through service, we’ll be able to continue enjoying their delicious menu. Choose from a sickly sweet delight like Bannoffe or Dutch Apple, or opt for a hearty savoury option like bacon and eggs. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it…
Lussmanns
Thanks to Lussmanns Sustainable Fish and Grill, we’ll be skipping the washing up for at least one night! The locally loved restaurant in St Albans, Harpenden and Hitchen is running a takeaway service throughout lockdown to provide you with ready made meals or shop their stash of quality wines, larder essentials or fresh fish and fruit and veg boxes. Whilst we recommend picking up any of it, the star of the show has to be their Saturday Night Takeaway ‘Strictly Burgers’ – order your favourite burgers, sides and drink, ready to enjoy in front of the telly.
