It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… The countdown has started, and Christmas is on its way! Wrap up warm this winter and surround yourself with sparkle and cheer by heading out to Hertfordshire’s Christmas trails. This year Hertfordshire’s attractions have put on a variety of stunning trails to put you and your family in a Christmassy mood!

Hatfield Park

Hatfield Park

Bring your family and friends to Hatfield Park this season for Fantastical Christmas Revels, a celebration of the manor's special place in Elizabeth I's childhood. Take the trail and enjoy traditional yuletide merriment, Tudor festivities, and a sparkling Christmas fit for royalty. Tudor melodies will guide your way, along with memories of times gone by and the chance to see Queen Elizabeth I as she welcomes her guests.

Ashridge House

Put your family in that Christmassy spirit at Ashridge House with the Nutcracker Christmas experience. Join Clara and her toy Nutcracker as they defeat the Mouse King, venture through the Land of Snow, and dance with the Sugar Plum Fairy. Journey through the land of dreams and finish up with a visit to Father Christmas himself, the chance to take photos and even a wish on the Wishing Tree.

Welwyn Garden City

Christmas is a magical time of the year especially in Welwyn Garden City. Take a look at the giant sitting on top of a present, visit the enormous reindeer that is crashing into the Howard Centre. There is a reason Welwyn Garden City is known as ‘The Home of Christmas Lights’. Explore the magical illuminations from November up until New Year’s Day and light up everyone’s Instagrams with your stories! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #WGCXmasLights.

Harpenden

Put on your dancing shoes… returning for 2023 is Harpenden’s Christmas Carnival promising to be a fantastic celebration for the residents of Hertfordshire and visitors! Take a look at Santa’s Grotto and pick up your favourite festive food from one of the food stalls as well as getting those last-minute gifts from the market. Don’t forget to attend the spectacular Christmas Lights Switch On at 5pm!

Treasure Map Trails

Everybody loves a trail all through the year whether it’s filled with lights or just wandering through nature. Take a look at Treasure Map Trails award-winning, fantasy themed treasure maps across Hertfordshire filled with outdoor adventures for the whole family to get involved in. The treasures include statues, carvings, signs and many more, don’t forget to look up and down and in those hidden crevices where no one would look, and learn a little about the local history along the way. No matter the weather you are bound to have a wonderful time!

Standborough Park

There's a search going on in Stanborough Park and they need your help! Take on the Christmas Polar Penguin search from 22nd  to 31st December. Wrap up warm and enjoy a festive family walk while searching for some fantastically festively named Christmas penguins on this free and fun day out for all the family.
