We’re hiding chocolate eggs, shaking out picnic blankets, and putting daffodils on the windowsill. That’s right - spring has arrived and brings with it, Easter! Every year, as we roll out of hibernation and jump into the new season, we gather inspiration and ideas from all across the county to bring to you and the family in one mega list of holiday hoppiness. So here we are again, with the ultimate guide on where to go and what to do in Hertfordshire during the Easter holidays.
Overnight Breaks

The Grove
We usually save the overnight stays for last, but we just had to kick things off with the ultimate Easter celebration, found right here at The Grove Hotel. Built with everyone in mind, make the most of the Sequoia Spa as the little ones enjoy the Kid’s Club, encounter wildlife at the petting zoo, stroll woodland trails, and take part in plenty of on-site activities before tucking in at one of their restaurants. And with 20% off when you stay for two nights or more, you can sleep peacefully knowing that you’re saving on your getaway.

Down Hall Hotel
Spend your Easter Sunday with loved ones at Down Hall Hotel, where the countryside views and warm welcomes pair perfectly with delicious food and drink. Whether you fancy putting pinkies up and indulging in a splendid afternoon tea, or you want to celebrate in style with a full Sunday Roast, you can find it all here in your next rural retreat. Be sure to check out their dedicated overnight family packages and discover how you can make this year’s holiday one to remember.

Tewinbury Farm Hotel
Nothing says springtime getaway like a stay on a farm! Immerse yourself in the stunning rural setting of the Tewinbury Farm Hotel, and you could see yourself and the kids spending a weekend enjoying ceramics workshops, scavenger hunts, tile painting, and more. Plus, with a ‘Meet the Winemaker’ session and gardening tips from the experts, there’s plenty of reasons to book in for you and the whole family.
Animal Adventures

Hertfordshire Zoo
We always leave a space in the diaries for a spring day out at Hertfordshire Zoo, and this year they most certainly did not disappoint. Their Easter celebrations kick off with a bang as they welcome two new and incredibly rare Asiatic lions, marking the first time these big cats have set paw in the county. Come along to say hello and, while you’re here, don’t miss out on the chance to meet the team from BBC’s “One, Zoo, Three”, or (the little ones will love this!), Peter Rabbit as he hops into the zoo ready for a meet and great.

Standalone Farm
At Standalone Farm this April, the usual wildlife wonders are joined by some fantastic holiday excitements. For an Easter special, animal keeper and conservationist Mark Amey will introduce you to a range of creatures, learning all about them with the chance to get up close and personal. Once you’ve snapped some pics and beheld the amazing creatures, head off on a chocolate making workshop, taking home your very own tasty goodies!

Natural History Museum Tring
Dive into the world of animals at the Natural History Museum in Tring, where discoveries are waiting to be made, and you can keep the kiddos entertained, as well as educated, during their time off. See the museum like never before as you search all corners in their Eggsplore Eggs Trail, or take a closer peek through the microscope at a variety of beautiful feathers and the birds they belong to. At only £1 for the trail, that’s one Easter day out we’ll definitely be taking.
Unforgettable Experiences

Hatfield Park
Embark on a journey as one of Hatfield Park’s ‘Easter Explorers’ this April. With each day bringing with it a new activity, join in for your chance to hunt easter eggs, sow seeds, decorate chocolate eggs, or even create a wooden bunny! Surrounded by the grounds’ iconic beauty, where better to spend an Easter afternoon?

Knebworth House
An Easter bonanza is ready and waiting to kick into action this year, and we simply can’t wait. We all know and love Knebworth House and Gardens for its stunning architecture, fascinating history, and glorious greenery - there’s one more thing to add to the list. Grab the family, step through those iconic gates, pick up your own Easter Trail Sheet, and head off on an adventure like none other. Backdropped by the iconic house and gardens, you’ll find characters throughout the grounds, solve puzzles, and get your very own prize at the end!

Laser Quest Hemel Hempstead
Feeling competitive? The team at Laser Quest in Hemel Hempstead have got just the day for you. Go head-to-head in one of their thrilling experiences, as you run, dive, and duck through their laser playground. Once the champions have been crowned, have a go on their range of arcade games, and keep the fun going. Trust us here, adults and kids alike will absolutely love this one.

Easter in St Albans
An Easter egg-stravaganza is ready to unfold in St Albans, so hop on over and get stuck in. Where shall we start? Perhaps with the outdoors Easter movie, or maybe some face painting? How about getting stuck into arts and crafts, or taking part in the scavenger hunt? And while the kids enjoy the excitement of the day, you can sit back and relax with food and drink in hand, soaking up that springtime sun.
Fun in the Sun

Celtic Harmony Camp
With a visit to Celtic Harmony this spring, you’re in for an Easter Egg Hunt with a difference as they’re no ordinary eggs you’re on the lookout for…they’re Dragon Eggs! Spend a sunny day with the family amongst the beautiful native woodland near Hertford, searching for eggs, making your own clay eggs, making your own woodland shelter, and much much more.

Treasure Maps Trails
Exciting, local, and low cost – what more could you need for a day out this Easter holiday? Explore the spots right on your doorstep through a whole news lens, taking the family out on a treasure hunt with Treasure Map Trails. Grab your own fantasy themed map and get ready for adventure, finding statues, clues, and sculptures in some of your favourite places.

Watford Green Loop
The perfect way to get them away from the screens, all you’ll need for this one are your favourite snacks, your best walking shoes, or a bike for something a little more active. The Watford Green Loop passes through idyllic settings, serene spaces, and beautiful heritage sites, giving you all a day out to remember, that doesn’t cost a penny!

Little Hay Golf Complex
Golf masters and beginners alike, this one’s for you. On those afternoons when the sun is shining and a gentle breeze is blowing, we love heading along to the Little Hay Golf Complex, where an 18-hole course waits for some Easter fun. Get stuck into the game with the whole family and put your skills to the test on this brilliant course, before heading inside for a bite to eat – here’s to quality time spent together.
