Aqua adventures, historical hoots, and sensational stays are all on our checklist to scope out in the next few months – who’s joining us in heading out in Herts before we retreat back into hibernation for winter?
Hatfield Swim Centre
Closed from the end of October
For a day out at the water, October half term is your last chance to get booked in and have a swim with the little ones. The Hatfield Swim Centre offers a whole host of excitement, with swimming lesson crash courses and general aqua adventure to keep them entertained and learning. So, fill those diaries and head on out for the day in the wonderful Hatfield.
Stanborough Park Water Sports Centre
Closed from the end of October
And for even more outdoors fun, one of our favourite water sports centres in the county is here to fill your itineraries for the October half term. Put your water sports skills to the test and try your hand at kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and more! New to 2023, the paddle & multi activity days are a must – grab the swimsuits, and we’ll see you there!
Knebworth House & Gardens
Closed from 2nd October
Explore the stunning architecture and breathtaking outdoors of Knebworth House & Gardens with family and friends this year. Open for the last time this year on the 30th September and 2nd October, you can enjoy a guided tour and discover the history of the grounds and building. Want to come back for more? Fear not, the elves will be working their magic and the doors to the house will re-open on selected dates in November and December for a Christmas Fair and even lunch with Santa!
Hatfield House
The House is closed, the Gardens remain open every Wednesday - Sunday
While the House has now closed for the season, you and loved ones can still enjoy a wander through the dazzling Gardens and woodlands of Hatfield Park. Grab a scarf and your favourite drink for a warming walk around the beautifully kept grounds, picturing the stories of the many people who’ve passed through in times gone by. Get a festive taste of its history and be sure to book in for their Fantastical Christmas Revels, hosted by none other than Queen Elizabeth I!
Henry Moore Studios & Gardens

When those oranges and reds start to appear, and the weather calls for us to pack an extra scarf, there’s no better place to spend the afternoon than with a stroll through Henry Moore Studios & Gardens. Discover the life of this iconic artist at a place where he spent many years, gathering inspiration from the beautiful countryside, and see his beautiful pieces of work dotted across the landscape.
Chiltern Canal Boat Holidays
Winter season starting in mid-November
All aboard! Get in some much-needed relaxation time with family and friends this year with an overnight stay on a Chiltern Canal Boat Holiday. Up until November, you can set sail and cruise down the Grand Union canal, settling into your home away from home with all the facilities you could ask for.
