A weekend of celebration in Dacorum
The glorious green space of Gadebridge Park will be transformed into a garden party this weekend, with entertainment for the whole family on Saturday. See farmyard animals, enjoy good old fashioned face painting, a fun fair, crazy golf and plenty of food and drink to tuck into. While on Sunday, Hemel Hempstead Old Town High Street will be packed with stalls, and the big screen in the park will be live streaming the Coronation concert, followed by family films to round off the weekend!
Celebrate in Stevenage
For that true community spirit this coronation weekend, look no further than Stevenage sat right on your doorstep for a day of royal celebrations. Bring along friends and family and join in the fun taking place on the Event Island on Monday 8th May. There's no better way to enjoy the bank holiday than with a day of delicious food, live music, community stalls, and even a lesson in cycling from the Stevenage Cycling Hub. We'll see you there!

Hertford town will be getting the party started on 7th May with their free family friendly event in the heart of the Hertford Castle grounds. There will be a host of fun activities to enjoy, with a King and Queen dress up competition, food and drink, live music and a Castle Open Day so you can explore the town’s icon for yourself. In the evening the live broadcast of the Coronation Celebration Concert will be streamed on the big screen under the stars.
St Albans waves the flag
The weekend is packed with fun and joy in St Albans, with the St Albans King’s Wardrobe Trail keeping little princes and princesses busy with mini challenges, and the Redbourn village Big Coronation Party swinging into action on Sunday. Greenwood Park will really be pushing the boat out with a full on festival on 6th May, with live music, a screen showing the big event and plenty of food and drink before a fireworks finale to cap it all off.
St Albans Cathedral Weekend
St Albans Cathedral has a whole weekend planned out! On Saturday the Coronation Screening and Community Lunch will be held in the nave (the longest nave in England), before Evensong will be sung by the Cathedral choir. Sunday will be marked with a special Service of Thanksgiving for the Coronation, while Monday will see the whole community turning out for the Big Help Out initiative, with litter picking, polishing and cleaning in the Cathedral.
Sopwell House
It just wouldn’t be a royal celebration without afternoon tea, would it? Sopwell House couldn’t be a more luxurious destination for it, with a royal-inspired afternoon tea on offer, featuring the King’s favourite cakes and even The Battenberg, a cake that was created in honour of Queen Victoria’s granddaughter's marriage to Prince Louis of Battenberg, who just so happened to have a son, Lord Mountbatten, who lived right here in Sopwell House. How’s that for a piece of royal history?
What's on in Watford this coronation Weekend?
From the 5th – 8th May, Watford has a host load of coronation events taking place to join in on the celebrations for His Majesty The King. From ‘Market Lates – King’s Coronation Special’ which will see a fantastic line-up of local vendors, offering food, drinks and crafts to ‘The Big Coronation Lunch’ at the iconic bandstand in Cassiobury Park! Expect to see a town dressed in red, white and blue and of course a little bunting too!
